Humbled. Elated. Overwhelmed.

Seventeen hedgehog amigurumi of various colors stacked on top of each other in two rows on a light-colored wood floor.

I promised that I would have a blog post up last week, but as you know, that didn’t come to pass.

“Why?” you ask.

Because I have been crocheting hedgehogs and processing orders almost non-stop since I opened the hedgehog sale.

When I started this, my hopes were high, but my expectations were low. I thought I would be lucky to sell twenty hedgehogs in two weeks. I surpassed that in two days. Even with little promotion after the initial push, at this moment I have sold over 85 percent of this limited run.

I am blown away by all the support I have received the past couple weeks. All the adoptions, donations, shares, and words of encouragement have meant so much. Additionally, this Tuesday I got the amazing news from my dentist that she will be writing off the portion of the bill that would have been billed to my insurance for my last procedure. That is over $700. You all have restored my belief in human kindness.

My hands are sore and I’m exhausted, but I am so grateful.

Columns of crocheted hedgehog backs in chocolate, toast, wheat, and rose in a dresser drawer with a gray and white chevron liner.

There are still a few hedgehogs in Wheat and Rose available through Sunday. Click here for the adoption form and share with your friends if you can. Update: Sold out! Thank you!

I’m hoping to start on a regular blog schedule starting next week, with a piece on crafting for accessibility. After that, I’ll be focusing mostly on knit and crochet amigurumi, starting off with a quick side by side comparison of the two fiber crafts.

Thank you all again for all the support and I will be back soon.

The Start of Something New

Two amigurumi hedgehogs sitting on a table, facing slightly toward one another.

Almost as long as I have been knitting and crocheting, I have wanted to have a craft blog. However, it was never the right time. There would be work, school, a death in the family, a serious injury… something always came up.

And then, last week, I had a crazy idea: Why don’t I just start it now? So, here we are.

Here is what I hope to share with you all on this blog:

  • Progress photos of various projects and insights into my creative process
  • Detailed explanations and diagrams of various technical aspects of knitting and crochet, especially in regards to amigurumi
  • Artistic concepts to aid in getting the details of your pieces just right
  • Other craft obsessions of mine, including origami and duct tape
  • The crazy antics of the felines who own me

Thank you for joining me on this journey. The right time is now. Stay tuned for more of my crazy ideas. 🙂
